Kendo Ontario AGM
Dear Kendo Ontario Members,
Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season.
On behalf of the board, I invite you to join us on Saturday January 24th, 2026 for the Annual General Meeting of the Ontario Kendo Federation (o/a Kendo Ontario). The meeting will be held by Zoom and will start at 8:00 p.m.
We will be providing a review of Kendo Ontario’s activities and need to take care of the following business issues for the organization:
- Review of the financial statement for the 2025 fiscal year
- To pass an extraordinary resolution to not appoint an auditor and to not have an audit in respect of the corporation’s financial year since the corporation had annual revenue of no more than $100,000
- To elect up to 2 directors to the board of the corporation due to the departure of David Badour and Lawrence Tsuji senseis.
Special acknowledgement and appreciation to Ryan Prendergast, B.A, LL.B, (Partner at Carters Professional Corporation, Member of York University Kendo Club and Legal Counsel to CKF) for his invaluable work on this matter.
This virtual meeting will serve as our formal general meeting and we request that all clubs be represented. Each club is to confirm their club’s voting representative and email contact information by Tuesday, January 20, 2026 via an email to [email protected]
I also want to extend an invitation to other members of your club who would like to attend this meeting in a non-voting capacity. You can use the form noted above to indicate who those other attendees will be.
If members from your club are not able to attend, please ensure that a proxy arrangement (which would allow a designated attendee from another club to vote on behalf of the absent club) is communicated to [email protected] by the January 20th deadline, using the attached form “OKF Proxy Form 2026 Jan24“.
As we are holding elections at this general meeting, we are putting out a call for candidates to join our Board. Any individual from a Kendo Ontario dojo may be nominated by their club as a candidate. If you know of someone who would be interested, please have them send a separate email to [email protected], also by Tuesday January 20th, 2026, with the following information: 1) Name, 2) Dojo name and 3) Include the following statement in their candidacy declaration “If elected, I consent to hold office as a Director on the Ontario Kendo Federation Board.”
Finally, given this meeting will serve as a general meeting, we also invite relevant issues to be added to the agenda. These items should also be included when you confirm your club’s voting representative information.
